Washington County
Washington County has a population of 13,723 and is located on the southern shore of the Albemarle Sound. It encompasses the towns of Plymouth, Roper, and Creswell. The area provides recreational opportunities for hunting, fishing, boating, water sports and golfing. The towns of Plymouth and Creswell are undergoing a complete revitalization of their historic downtown area. The town of Plymouth has added a lighthouse that provides an added attraction to the area. There are other sites such as Sommerset Plantation, Cane trails, Pettigrew State Park, Pungo River Refuge, Riverside Lighthouse, and many historic homes. Washington County has become a flourishing tourist destination. For the race fans, the Outerbanks Raceway is open every weekend. The proximity of the Outer Banks and many historic sites in the region make Washington County the perfect place to call “home.”
